A rental call compresses difficult elements into minutes: imperfect sound, an unfamiliar speaker, dates, money and competition. Begin by reducing what your ear must sort.
Predict categories, not exact questions
The caller may ask when you can view, when you would move in, how many people will live there, or which documents you can provide. Write those categories on paper. During practice, point to the category before forming an answer. Recognition should come before polished grammar.
Make numbers resistant to stress
Ask a partner to read random times and dates. Repeat each one and confirm it: Also, Dienstag um sechzehn Uhr? This habit catches errors naturally. Include warm rent and deposit amounts, but verify contractual terms in writing.
Prepare an honest boundary
If you cannot understand a document request, ask for an email: Könnten Sie mir das bitte per E-Mail schicken? Do not claim to have paperwork you do not possess. A short truthful answer is more useful than an elaborate memorised one.
Finish rehearsal after a rejection as well as after a viewing offer. The ability to thank someone and begin the next call is part of the practical language task.
